Coda Research Consultancy has recently conducted a study regarding the global future of mobile broadband. It seems that the technology will spread faster than expected.

The Consultancy believes that by 2017 there will be close to 420 million users of mobile internet all over the world. This implies a rapid rate of growth, and the majority of it will happen in the Asia-Pacific region. By that time, Europe will have around 95 million users, though the rate of expansion is going to be the lowest here. The report also suggests that the Middle East and Africa will have 48 million subscribers and America will have close to 60 million.

Expansion will take place not only when it comes to the number of subscribers but also in the amount of data used by subscribers every month. According to the report, it is going to reach around 2 exabytes, which is 40 times what it is now.

However, all is not good news. Revenue received from each subscriber may dip with this expansion, which may land the companies in trouble.
